Thuốc bôi ngoài da có chứa corticoid có hiệu quả trong điều trị một số bệnh lý ngoài da, bao gồm: eczema, phát ban, kích ứng nhẹ do côn trùng đốt, viêm da dị ứng, bệnh vẩy nến, tăng tiết bã nhờn và viêm da tiếp xúc.
Mặc dù hiệu quả của thuốc bôi ngoài da có chứa corticoid rất ấn tượng, điều quan trọng trong hướng dẫn sử dụng là phải biết rằng nhóm thuốc này có những tác dụng phụ đáng kể.

Thuốc bôi ngoài da có chứa corticoid trong một số tình trạng bệnh lý da (như nấm ngoài da, lang ben, hắc lào) chỉ giúp ngăn chặn tình trạng viêm da gây đỏ và ngứa trong giai đoạn cấp tính ban đầu hơn là điều trị nguyên nhân gây bệnh và do đó chúng sẽ không chữa khỏi tình trạng bệnh.
Thuốc có chứa Corticoid: lợi ít hại nhiều?
Khi được sử dụng đúng cách, thuốc bôi ngoài da có chứa corticoid hiếm khi gây ra tác dụng phụ đáng kể.
Tuy nhiên, nếu nhóm thuốc này, được sử dụng kéo dài hay dùng lượng lớn có thể gây ra những thay đổi trên vùng da được điều trị, với các dấu hiệu da nhiễm corticoid, bao gồm mỏng da, hình thành các mảng bầm tím, vết rạn da, viêm nang lông và mụn nhọt, mất sắc tố da và mọc lông
Cảm giác thiêu đốt hoặc châm chích khá phổ biến trong vài ngày đầu điều trị với thuốc bôi ngoài da có chứa corticoid, tuy nhiên điều này thường hết sau vài ngày.
Nếu sử dụng đúng theo chỉ dẫn của bác sĩ, nguy cơ hấp thu thuốc bôi ngoài da có chứa corticoid vào cơ thể là cực kỳ thấp. Trong một số trường hợp có tình trạng viêm da mãn tính, thuốc bôi ngoài da có chứa corticoid có thể được chỉ định sử dụng trong thời gian dài nếu người sử dụng biết và tuân thủ đúng liều lượng dùng.
Ngoài các dạng thuốc bôi với mục đích điều trị, các corticosteroid hiện nay còn được sử dụng với mục đích làm đẹp, đặc biệt là Corticoid kem trộn. Các dạng mỹ phẩm này mang lại hiệu quả dưỡng trắng hoặc trị mụn “thần tốc” chỉ sau vài ngày đến 2 tuần sử dụng.
Khi sử dụng mỹ phẩm chứa corticoid (kem trộn), ban đầu da sẽ đẹp lên nhanh chóng, trắng hồng, mờ thâm, giảm mụn… Nhưng chỉ sau 1 thời gian ngắn hoặc khi ngừng thuốc đột ngột sẽ gây ra tình trạng hư hỏng da nặng nề, khó chữa.
- Lựa chọn corticosteroid phù hợp với tính chất bệnh lý và vùng da bị tổn thương.
- Thường bôi ngày 2 lần, đôi khi là 3 – 4 lần nếu có chỉ định cụ thể. Khi bôi mát xa nhẹ để thuốc ngấm vào da.
- Thời gian dùng thuốc bôi: Loại mạnh khoảng 2 tuần, loại nhẹ có thể kéo dài 6 – 7 tuần. Đánh giá lại sau mỗi 2 tuần dùng thuốc.
- Không bôi corticosteroid trên diện rộng vì có thể gây quá liều, hấp thu và gây tác dụng toàn thân.
